Greetings! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Marc A. aka Dr. Marctagon™ or Doc, for short. I’m a 30 something urban techpreneur, healthy lifestyle geek, flexitarian, foodie and runner. No, I’m not a real doctor, I just play one on the Internet.
I’ve struggled with my weight ever since I was eight years old. I didn’t finally begin to attempt to take control until I was about 18 when I first started working out. Things started out well but then they went bad. I put on about 100 pounds in college over the course of 4 years and escalated to 290 pounds. Then I lost 55 of it while also gaining 3 inches in height. I did some yoyoing, ran some races, lifted some weights but eventually I gained it back, and then some, ballooning to a max of 333 pounds. Now I am on the path back down but with a stronger mindset and an enlarged way of thinking. My mind needs to be stronger than my body in order to make this work.
Enter Dr. Marctagon™. I breathed some life into this old blog of mine that I began years ago when I decided my tale was one I needed to tell not only for myself but also for others who are pushing along the path just as I am. I revamped it and made into what you see today.
This is NOT simply a fit blog. This is a wellness blog. Physical fitness is an awesome thing but without the right attitude and the right mindset it’s useless because, contrary to popular belief, the mind and body are not mutually exclusive. They must both be healthy to be truly well. This doesn’t just apply to those who are overweight or out of shape; it applies to each and everyone of us.
The goal of what I write here is not only to pass on my thoughts and wisdom but also to share my own wellness journey. While I’m in the trenches fighting the good fight along with the rest of you, I’m grabbing the hands of those behind me and helping to pull them forward. We are all in this together so let’s work together and have a great time in the process. I’m far from perfect. I make A LOT of mistakes but I can guarantee one thing. I WILL NOT GIVE UP!
We all have a story. This is mine.
So what can you expect to read about?
- My weight loss goals and progress
- Running (and other forms of exercise)
- Useful information in the areas of both physical and mental fitness
- Positive energy (because let’s face it, there is enough negative energy out there in the world already)
- Kickin’ @ss and taking names (I love new and exciting challenges!)
- And a few laughs for good measure!
As you can see, we have a LOT to talk about but this isn’t just about me. I want YOU to be a part of this movement and I want to be a part of yours, whatever it may be.
Feel free to browse, read, comment, and follow my journey. You’re more than welcome.
